Dormant assets refer to assets that lose contact with their owner, such as bank accounts or investments where the bank is unable to reach the account holder for an extended period. This can happen due to changes in contact details or personal circumstances. Maintaining up-to-date information with your bank is essential to ensure that your assets remain accessible to you and your heirs. Additionally, managing dormant assets is a regulatory obligation in Switzerland, and we take this responsibility seriously.

Steps You Can Take to Avoid Dormant Assets
  • Keep your details updated: Update any changes to your address or contact information in the Yuh app or by contacting our Customer Care Center.
  • Inform a trusted person: Let someone close to you know about your banking relationship with us.
  • Include your assets in your will: Listing your assets in your will can help ensure they are not overlooked.

What happens if contact is lost: If we are unable to reach you, we will take steps to locate your updated contact details. This may include working with third parties who are subject to the same banking confidentiality laws as our staff. If these efforts are unsuccessful:
  • Your assets will be registered and specially earmarked within our bank.
  • They will be reported to the Central Claims Office, where they are safeguarded under strict confidentiality and security standards.
Your rights are protected: Even in cases of lost contact, your rights to your assets remain intact. Any measures we take, such as converting assets to low-risk instruments, will be made with your assumed best interest in mind.
Costs: Standard account maintenance fees apply, along with additional charges for investigations or specialized handling of dormant assets. These charges are proportional to the value of the assets. More details can be found at www.yuh.com.
